Mopa vs Dabolim: Which Goa Airport Should You Fly Into?
Goa has two airports, and picking the right one can save you an hour of driving. Here is how Mopa (Manohar International) and Dabolim (Goa International) compare, and which one fits your stay.
The short answer
Mopa is in Pernem, at the northern end of Goa, so it is closer to Arambol, Mandrem, Morjim, Vagator, Anjuna and the North Goa beach belt. Dabolim is at Vasco da Gama in the middle of the coast, so it is closer to Panjim, Colva, Benaulim and all of South Goa.
Which airport for which stay
- Arambol, Mandrem, Morjim, Ashwem: Mopa.
- Vagator, Anjuna: Mopa is usually shorter.
- Calangute, Baga, Candolim: either airport works; Mopa is somewhat closer.
- Panjim and Old Goa: similar distances from both.
- Colva, Benaulim, Cavelossim: Dabolim.
- Palolem, Patnem, Agonda: Dabolim, by a wide margin.
Do not choose on distance alone
Flight options, fares and timings matter more than a 20-minute difference. If the fare and timing are close, choose the airport nearer to where you are staying. If one airport has a much cheaper or more convenient flight, a pre-booked cab usually makes up the extra distance without stress.
Getting from the airport to your hotel
Both airports have taxi counters and pre-booking options. Pre-booking a cab gives you a vehicle sized for your group and a ride arranged before you land. We run transfers from both airports to North and South Goa.
